Shreya Singhal, who got Sec 66A of IT Act scrapped, backs the fight for net neutrality
"It is unjustified to curb access to Internet. It is one company's policy and not financially viable," Shreya said.

New Delhi: As support for net neutrality increases with each passing day, even Shreya Singhal, who filed the petition against Section 66A of Information Technology Act which led the Supreme Court scrapping it, believes the proposal by some telecom operators to allow preferential access to some websites and apps is unjustified.

She says the proposal isn't financially viable. "It is unjustified to curb access to Internet. It is one company's policy and not financially viable. Given the amount of protests, people might cancel their network or change the service," she says.

She adds the proposal infringes upon the fundamental right of making a choice. "Flipkart pulled after public outcry. There is so much of negative view and it will adversely affect the owner of start-ups," she says.

According to her more companies will also pull out of plans like Bharti Airtel Zero and the matter won't reach court.

Following a huge backlash on social media over its decision to join Airtel Zero, e-commerce giant Flipkart pulled out of the program. The decision from Flipkart csme in the wake of growing protests against net neutrality abuse.

Airtel Zero has drawn ire from users and experts across the country for violating the principles of net neutrality as the platform offers access to some apps and is seen as not being equal to all.

Airtel Zero is an open-marketing platform that allows customers to access a variety of mobile applications for free, with the data charges being paid by the companies owning the application.
