This is the year when it became very clear that there are two very distinct lines of thought among phone makers and users, when it comes to cameras in smartphones. There are the phones such as the Huawei P20 Pro with the triple camera setup at the back, and there are those who clearly agree that more sensors at the back translate into more data captured and therefore a better image as well. Then there are the dual camera phones, such as the Apple iPhone 10S Max, the OnePlus 6T and the Samsung Galaxy S9+. However, Google believes that a single optical sensor still works best, and who are we to argue with the Google Pixel 3 XL relying on pristine artificially intelligent algorithms to pull out great photos too.
