New Delhi: Today employers have gone tech-friendly while hiring new candidates. They read your resume later and look you up on the social media first. Have a potentially offensive history of social media posts? Put your worries to rest for a new app is here to help you.
The new app, rightly dubbed Clear, connects with your Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts and analyses your history and flags posts with potentially inappropriate content. It uses a combination of algorithms and IBM's supercomputer Watson to filter content.
As Mashable reports the app has been created by Ethan Czahor who personally went through an embarrassing situation where he had to abruptly resign in less than 48 hours of getting hired for a job after his years-old offensive tweets resurfaced.
The Clear app spots potentially troublesome posts based on keywords, such as profanity. It also filters out posts that mention general groups like women or gay people. Czahor argues that any mention of groups is where you're likely to talk in generalities and stereotypes.
Before the app cleans your past feed, you can review the content marked inappropriate and delete accordingly.
Currently, the app only identifies text-based posts which are offensive. However, Czahor says the feature to spot inappropriate photos or videos is on the roadmap and soon Clear will also be able to rope in content from other social networks.
