Xiaomi 14 Ultra Unlikely To Launch In India: Here’s The Reason It Won’t Come Here
Xiaomi 14 Ultra has launched globally but most reports suggest the new flagship model from the brand is unlikely to come to India this year as well.

Xiaomi 14 Ultra has launched in China and unveiled for the global markets as well this week. But the new Ultra phone yet again misses out on its journey to India, as highlighted in multiple reports. Xiaomi 14 is launching in India which has already been confirmed by the company.

The brand has decided against taking the Xiaomi 14 Pro out of its home market. But the bigger question is about Xiaomi’s reluctance to launch the 14 Ultra in India and it is probably easy to guess the reasons.

Xiaomi has built its name with the value-for-money category in the country, which has now become far higher in pricing than ever before. In fact, the Redmi Note lineup goes as high as Rs 40,000 in the country, which didn’t happen in the early days of the company.

The Ultra version in the past few years showcased Xiaomi’s focus on premium imaging tech with the help of Leica and the results have impressed most. People have pleaded with Xiaomi to launch the 13 Ultra along with the 13 Pro last year, but it didn’t happen. The premium category is effectively led by Apple in the country, and then you have Samsung and probably Google in a distant third.

OnePlus and Vivo have also shown their flagship ambitions in recent years and they seem happy to play the game, as the other models rake up the volumes. So, why can’t Xiaomi have a similar strategy and show everyone that it is ready to battle the biggies with the Ultra? Well, the main reason could be related to the pricing. Xiaomi 14 Ultra announced in Europe this week comes for well over Rs 1 lakh. Even Google doesn’t stand a chance with the Pixels in that range here.

Samsung seems to have bucked the trend and got itself moving to the higher table. But Xiaomi needs a lot of work before going in that direction. It is believed that Xiaomi 14 is no slouch with Leica-powered camera in tow and it is possible that the company wants to have a dry run with the latest model and gauge whether the Ultras do stand a chance in the country at a later date.
