Entrepreneur Faces Backlash After He Compares Wedding Proposal To B2B Sales
Shankman shared seven points that he learned from his relationship which include Prospecting, Discovery, Demo, Pricing, Negotiations, Handling Objections and Closing.

Wedding proposals are a turning point where a couple decides to embark on a journey of forever together. It is filled with anticipation, excitement, and, of course, love. Proposals are heartwarming anecdotes that break the ice about love, relationships, and marriage. But what if we say that a proposal can be a lesson about B2B (business-to-business) sales? Sounds weird, right? A California-based entrepreneur named Bryan Shankman has unleashed an influx of uproar and discussions on LinkedIn after his post about his supposed learnings on B2B sales after he proposed to his girlfriend over the weekend went viral.

The entrepreneur shared a photo of him going down on knees and proposing to his girlfriend against the backdrop of a dreamy beachside. He accompanied the picture with a lengthy note explaining what the proposal taught him about B2B sales. He began explaining that, like a well-run sales cycle, key milestones must be met throughout the relationship to ensure a closed-won status at the end.

Elaborating further, Shankman shared seven points that he learned from his relationship. These pointers include Prospecting, Discovery, Demo, Pricing, Negotiations, Handling Objections and Closing.

Have a look at the post below:

“After the deal is closed, there is a lot of work to do. The journey continues with planning and constant communication to ensure ongoing satisfaction," the entrepreneur concluded.

Shared a day ago, Shankman’s post went immensely viral, flooding the comments of the post. Some expressed dissatisfaction and called it cringe, while others took it humorously and wished to see the expansion plans next.

“You’re lucky that you’re the owner. If you were on my team, I would fire you for the following reasons: No one on my team is allowed to get married. This helps decrease the chances of people taking maternity or paternity leave. You clearly took a vacation to execute this proposal, which shows your head is not in the right place. No one on my team takes days off," a LinkedIn user commented (sarcastic, of course).

There were some who expressed dissatisfaction over the comparison, with one commenting, “These are the types of posts that make me want to delete LinkedIn forever and never experience this level of cringe ever again."

Another added, “Am sure your soon-to-be wife is super pleased that you treated her like a sales prospect. Good luck."

“I’m gonna need to see the onboarding and expansion plans next. Congrats, B," wrote a user on LinkedIn.

“Congratulations on her saying yes (which I assume she did). But proposing to a future wife, IMHO, has nothing to do with sales," posted another.
