PS4 Inside PS5 Box? Amazon Delivers Old PlayStation in New Box, Customer's Requests Go Unanswered

Imagine the thrill of getting something as a gift you’ve been wanting for so long. You open the package, but as soon as you look inside, your heart sinks. That’s exactly what happened to one person who eagerly awaited a PlayStation 5 from a close friend. When the package arrived, it did indeed contain a PS5 – but only the outer box. Yes, you read that right! The company delivered just the package with no actual console inside.

“Found a PS4 in a PS5 box! Made a complaint for the same at CS, return failed and no one came to pick up the product twice! Is this what we expect from Amazon now? Is anyone here bothered by this issue with their products this year on Amazon?” wrote a Reddit user, who goes by “shubhfaldu87”, in the platform’s “India” community.

Alongside, “shubhfaldu87” shared three pictures detailing the situation. The first one shows a PS5 PlayStation box he ordered from Amazon. The next one shows the PS4 box placed inside the PS5 packaging. The third shows the screenshot from the app which shows that the US-based company initiated the return process on October 8. However, the return pickup failed the next day, October 9. The message for failed attempt read, “Pickup attempted – package not ready.”

The Redditor further informed that the e-commerce company will investigate the matter till October 16 and issue a refund on its basis.

The post, since being shared five days ago on Reddit, has accumulated over 1,400 upvotes and numerous comments. An individual said, “These scammers have ruined the concept of e-commerce.”

“There are too many tick marks to check now- Prime, Assured, AZ delivered, return replacement policy. Amazon is still better than Flipkart, it’s usually delivery boys who are overburdened. Flipkart is just straight-up scamming people, delivering a defective product but no returns because of seller policy, no negative reviews, and no customer service,” expressed another.

A third joked, “Seller tried his best to not completely disappoint you at least.”

“It’s a premature PlayStation, you have to wait 9 months before it matures into PS5,” joined yet another Redditor.

A fifth commented, “I would be absolutely furious ngl. The excitement u feel while opening the wrapper. Your nose on the box dragging in the fresh plastic odour. You open the box and there it is a PS4.”

“Damn. That’s the worst. Had a similar issue with a moisturiser bottle being in the box instead of my USD 2k camera. It’s a pain to deal with Amazon,” shared a sixth.
