A man has expressed shock after a toll charge of Rs 220 was deducted from his FASTag account while he was at home. Sunderdeep Singh took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a screenshot of the transaction, which shows the deduction was made at Ladowal Toll Plaza in Punjab. Singh further claimed that he hadn’t even travelled on that route this month, raising questions about the legitimacy of the charge.
“Hi FASTag NETC. Money is deducted when I am chilling at home and haven’t even travelled to that route this month. What’s going on?” wrote Sunderdeep Singh while sharing a screenshot on the microblogging platform.

FASTag replied to the post and wrote, “Hi, please get in touch with the issuing bank’s customer service desk to report the incorrect deduction issue. They will review your complaint and raise a chargeback for the incorrectly deducted fare based on its merit. Thank you.”

“Ended up paying twice. Their sensor didn’t work and was asked to pay cash citing a low balance (which surprised me). Within a minute of crossing, I get a message the amount has been deducted from my account. Return back only to face harassing questions before they finally give in,” expressed an individual.
Another added, “Happening with us since the past 1 year. Some other cars are using our car registration number. All their challans and fast tag deductions are directed to us. After countless police station and bank branch visits, we have started considering it as a separate house expense.”
“The same happened to me twice. Neither the bank nor the government agency responded,” shared a third.
A fourth suggested, “Never buy fast tag linked to your bank account. Always buy from a third party and keep the balance low or add money in your wallet just before travelling.”
