This Version Of Bengali Song Dekhechi Rupsagore Is Beautiful
Zoutenn is a singer and guitarist from the Central African Republic.

A video of an African man singing a Bengali song while playing a guitar is raking in likes on Instagram. Zoutenn, singer and guitarist from the Central African Republic who is currently living in Canada, posted a video in which he sings Dekhechi Rupsagore, a Bengali song believed to be written by Rabindranath Tagore. The soft guitar music adds charm to this song. This soulful rendition has earned the praise of many Bengali speakers. His clip has gained over 12,000 likes. In his Instagram bio, Zoutenn mentions that he is currently learning Hindi. He previously posted many Punjabi, Hindi, and Nepali songs as well.

Commenting on Zoutenn’s Dekhechi Rupsagore cover, an Instagram user wrote, “Your pronunciation is so much better than few bengali singers. This is so overwhelming. Thank you for singing in my language and actually doing justice to the song. Beautifully sung."

Making a similar point, another mentioned, “Believe me your accent is much better than many Bengalies and also you gave a tight slap to all those Bengali and Non-Bengali peoples who make fun of Bengali language, keep spreading love and sing more Bengali songs like this."

An Instagram user complimented his singing and asserted, “You again confirmed that Bengali is the sweetest language pal." In addition to his singing, a person also praised his guitar skills and wrote, “U have an amazing voice as well as an amazing chords arpeggio skill…"

In 2019, a video of a group of young boys from Nigeria singing Bholi Si Surat from Shah Rukh Khan’s 1997 hit Dil To Pagal Hai went viral. It is unclear when and where this video was taken.

In recent years, dancer Kili Paul and his sister Neema Paul gained much audience amongst Indians after they started posting Instagram videos on Indian songs, most of them from Bollywood. Kili and his sister come from Mindu Tulieni, a remote village in Tanzania. Now the sibling duo has 5.5 million followers on Instagram.

Last year, the Indian High Commissioner in Tanzania honored Kili for popularising Indian music and dance. In September 2022, he danced with actor Ranveer Singh on Meta Creator Day. He also made an appearance on season 16 of the reality show Big Boss as a house guest.

Prime Minister Modi also mentioned Kili and Neema in an episode of Mann Ki Baat as he urged Indians to make lip-sync videos of different songs in India’s local languages.
