Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag will visit Drass in Kargil tomorrow to pay homage to the martyrs of the 1999 war against Pakistan.
Srinagar: Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Chief of Army Staff General Dalbir Singh Suhag will visit Drass in Kargil on Thursday to pay homage to the martyrs of the 1999 war against Pakistan.
"The Defence minister and the Army Chief are scheduled to arrive in Drass tomorrow to pay homage to martyrs of Kargil War," defence sources said.
The sources said Parrikar and Gen Singh will lay floral wreaths at the War Memorial at Drass as Army plans elaborate celebrations to mark the 15 anniversary of the Vijay Diwas -- victory in Kargil War -- this weekend.
The sources said the families of the martyrs and the soldiers who took part in the operation have been invited for the three-day celebrations beginning on July 24.
