'Today is Day 1': Roman Reigns Breaks Silence After Losing WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 40
The Tribal Chief decided not to attend the press conference or any other events, following his loss to Cody Rhodes at Wrestlemaia, instead choosing to post a brief comment on the loss on social media with a video of him using a treadmill.

This past weekend, fans witnessed one of the most historic WrestleMania in the history of WWE. It would not be an exaggeration to say that it was arguably one of the greatest pay-per-view events of all time. Spanning over two nights at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the grand show hosted 145,298 spectators overall, breaking the record set at last year’s WrestleMania 39. It also became the most followed WWE event of all time on social media. One match, in particular, will go down as a pivotal moment in the current era of the WWE as Roman Reigns failed to defend the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship after losing to Cody Rhodes. The Tribal Chief’s 1,316-day reign as champion came to an end at WrestleMania 40 after conceding a defeat at the hands of Rhodes.

Billed the ‘Bloodline Rules’ match, which was the main event on Night Two, Jimmy Uso, Solo Sikoa and even The Rock tried everything they could to ensure that Reigns’ streak continued in Philadelphia. Though the streak was destined to come to an end, finally did, as Rhodes was able to pin Roman Reigns with the aid of Jey Uso, John Cena, Seth Rollins and The Undertaker.

Reigns has been uncharacteristically absent despite Rhodes being rather active in the aftermath of winning the Undisputed WWE Universal title making appearances on talk shows and Monday Night Raw earlier this week. The Tribal Chief decided not to attend the press conference or any other events, instead choosing to post a brief comment on the loss on social media with a video of him using a treadmill. “Yesterday I mourned. Today is Day 1,” the former Undisputed WWE Universal champion posted on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

Big things are apparently in the works for Roman Reigns, even though he is reportedly set to take a short sabbatical. WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque announced during the post-WrestleMania 40 press conference that Roman Reigns’ career will be heading “to a whole another level” with the release of a “whole new story.”

“He’s changed the industry; he’s that good! Can’t say enough good stuff about him. And then to do what he did tonight with Cody Rhodes and complete… It’s not completing this story; it’s just getting to the end of this chapter, because he’s gonna go on a whole new story now that is going to blow people’s minds, I think. And I know he’s gonna take it to a whole another level,” said Triple H.

Even though Reigns’ interminable championship reign came to an end in Philadelphia, The Head of the Table set a new benchmark in WWE with his incredible performances. His reign as the Undisputed WWE Universal champion, which lasted 1,316 days is the fourth-longest streak in history and the longest one in the modern era.
