Following a fantastic Royal Rumble pay-per-view in January, it’s time for the second PPV of 2024 in the form of Elimination Chamber. It is one of the most anticipated live events in the WWE calendar year, with some matches having direct ramifications with the line-up at the year’s WrestleMania. As such, a couple of matches in this year’s Elimination Chamber will set up title bouts at the upcoming WrestleMania 40. The Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia, will be hosting the 2024 Elimination Chamber, making it the third successive instance of this pay-per-view being held outside the United States.
We are all set to witness four major matches at the 2024 Elimination Chamber. For starters, Rhea Ripley will defend her Women’s World Championship title against Nia Jax.
Drew McIntyre, Randy Orton, Logan Paul, Kevin Owens, Bobby Lashley, and LA Knight will battle it out in the men’s Chamber match. Seth Rollins will take on the winner of this match for the World Heavyweight Championship match at WrestleMania 40.
Meanwhile, the winner between Rhea Ripley and Nia Jax will face the winner of the women’s Chamber match at WrestleMania 40, which will be contested by Becky Lynch, Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Raquel Rodriguez.
Judgement Day (Damian Priest and Finn Balor), the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Champions, will face British Strong Style (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate).
Ahead of the 2024 Elimination Chamber, let’s take a look at some first-time ever facts that you absolutely need to know.
First-ever Elimination Chamber in Australia
It is only the second time in the history of WWE that a pay-per-view event will be held in Australia. In 2018, the WWE Super Show-Down took place at the glorious Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne. This time, the Elimination Chamber will be held at the Optus Stadium in Perth, which will be the first instance of this PPV taking place in Australia.
Two Australian wrestlers fighting in Australia
For the first time in the history of WWE, two Australian wrestlers will fight it out for all the bragging rights in their own nation, Australia. Indeed, defending Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will be challenged by fellow Aussie Nia Jax at the Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.
Defending champion is an Australian
Rhea Ripley will be defending her Women’s World Championship title at the 2024 Elimination Chamber, making her the first-ever Australian wrestler to walk into a Premium Live Event (PLE) as a champion.
Becky Lynch in an Elimination Chamber match
Becky Lynch is among the most beloved and decorated female WWE superstars of the current era, having won numerous titles. However, one thing she had never done hitherto was participate in an Elimination Chamber match. Now, she will be facing five other wrestlers – Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Raquel Rodriguez – to book a berth for the Women’s World Title match at WrestleMania 40.
