The latest episode of WWE NXT, aired on January 9, unfolded with plenty of drama. Apart from some exciting single fights, fans got to enjoy several title clashes. Dragon Lee put his NXT North American Championship on the line twice. He was able to retain the title on the first attempt against Lexis King. However, Oba Femi turned the tables in the following match, becoming the new champion of North America.
Another highlight of the episode was the commencement of the Dusty Classic tag team tournament. There were two Round 1 matches. While the duo of Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin took on Gallus and Nathan Frazer, Nathan Frazer and Axiom squared off against Hank Walker and Tank Ledger.

Blair Davenport vs Nikkita Lyons:
Nikkita Lyons pulled off a commanding start as she launched a sudden attack on Blair Davenport on the way to the ring. It helped Lyons take early control of the match. But Davenport came roaring back with a big dive off the apron. She then came up with a chop block, targeting Davenport’s injured leg and picked up the win with a knee strike finisher.
Dusty Classic Round 1 match– Gallus vs Baron Corbin & Bron Breakker:
Gallus tried to isolate Breakker soon after the bell rang. Mark Coffey was tagged in early and went hard on Corbin and Breakker. Wolfgang came in next and received a gutbuster from Corbin. Breaker followed it up with a spear before using the End of Days on Mark to secure the victory.
Josh Briggs vs Oro Mensah:
After both superstars came into the ring, Lash Legend and Dar tried to cause interference. The distraction helped Mensah gain some momentum. Dar once again tried to disturb Briggs but he was able to dodge it. Briggs then attempted a big chokeslam before hitting Mensah with a running clothesline to register the victory.
WWE NXT Tag Team Championship:
From the champion unit, Stacks took over the charge, going head-to-head against Nima. Price tried to tag himself in but was sent into the corner. Tony came in and attacked OTM with some big suplexes. The champs then launched their combined finisher on Price but Nima was there to help his teammate. Stacks then threw Nima out of the ring before Tony got rid of Price to retain the title.
Cora Jade vs Gigi Dolin:
Dolin started the match on a promising note and got a near fall before Jade countered it with a knee strike. However, she missed the target, which allowed Dollin to use an STO. Jade managed to save herself from the sudden attack. She came up with her DDT finisher to secure the win.
Dusty Cup Round 1 match– Axiom & Nathan Frazer vs Hank Walker & Tank Ledger:
Frazer started the fight for his team and ended up receiving brutal treatment. Axiom was tagged in early and tried some high-flying moves. Walker countered them with a clothesline before Axiom hit a knee strike. In the end, Frazer used the Phoenix Splash to win the battle.
WWE NXT North American Championship– Dragon Lee (c) vs Lexis King:
King was desperate to clinch the title but failed to make a desired start to the match. However, he bounced back early and locked in Lee in Single-leg Crab. The Champion took no time to break the hold and attempted a big superkick. He followed it up with his iconic Operation Dragon to pick up the win.
WWE NXT North American Championship– Dragon Lee (c) vs Oba Femi:
As soon as the bell rang, Oba Femi ran into the ring and announced that he would cash in the Breakout contract. Lee made a poor start as he received some big hits. He came back with a big counter but Femi managed to dodge it. He then used a powerbomb to win the championship match, making the title to his name.
