New Delhi: To realign its goals to maintain market leadership position in the face of competition from private firms such as Reliance Industries, India’s largest natural gas distributor state-run Gas Authority of India Ltd (GAIL) is taking to spiritualism.
Top executives of GAIL, a company that till recently was marred in controversies over its management style, were last week given an inspirational talk by 'Art of Living' exponent Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
"GAIL had spent past couple of years only in conflict management. Now, we want the company to refocus its energies on building the organisation," as quoted by PTI, a company official said.
The spiritual leader delivered a talk in line with the company's current dilemma.
"In today's cut-throat competitive business environment, overcoming individuality and developing a holistic perspective towards organisational life for the enhancement of cosmic knowledge is the need of the hour," he exhorted.
GAIL is preparing a blueprint for growth and expansion of its core gas pipeline and transportation business as well as backward integration into gas exploration and production.
"A medium term road-map will be ready soon and the new chairman and managing director U D Choubey will make a presentation to the company's full board of directors and administrative ministry thereafter," the official said.
