IPL 2024: Double Blow for Delhi Capitals; Mitchell Marsh Returns to Australia, David Warner to Undergo Scans - Report
Mitchell Marsh has travelled to Australia after a hamstring tear while David Warner who injured his finger will undergo scans at Ahmedabad.

Delhi Capitals have been handed a big blow in their ongoing season of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). Their star all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has suffered a hamstring tear and has flown back to Australia for treatment.

According to a report by ESPNCricinfo, Marsh was recalled by Cricket Australia after coordinating with the franchise as he picked up an injury where he tore his right hamstring.

The all-rounder last played for DC in their home game against the Kolkata Knight Riders where Rishabh Pant’s side suffered a thumping defeat by 106 runs. Marsh was dismissed for a duck as he had a pretty average outing in the IPL this season having not scored 30+ runs in an innings this edition.

The Allan Border medallist has been a crucial part of Australia’s side in all three formats of the sport. He is also in line to be named as the T20I captain for the upcoming T20 World Cup in June with the West Indies and the United States of America as hosts.

According to the report, Marsh had travelled back to Australia immediately after the game against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium. The franchise and CA are yet to take a call on the all-rounder potentially withdrawing from this season of the IPL.

However, their injury concerns do not end there as their other Aussie international, David Warner is also facing an injury concern. The veteran opening batter injured his finger during the game against Lucknow Super Giants on Friday.

The report said that the opening batter is set to undergo scans after landing in Ahmedabad ahead of their next game against the Gujarat Titans. on April 17. DC have not had the best start to the season as they have only won two out of the six games played and now sit at ninth on the points table.
