IPL 2024 Playoffs Race After MI vs SRH: Mumbai Indians Crawl Out of 10th Spot, Sunrisers Static at 4th
Not much change was inspired in the points table after MI's emphatic 7-wicket win over SRH, as MI moved up from rock-bottom to 10th place, while SRH remain still in 4th

After a string of four losses in a row, Mumbai Indians finally found themselves back in winning ways as they triumphed emphatically in a 7-wicket win over Sunrisers Hyderabad in Wankhede on Monday.

It was a fine performance with the ball by the MI skipper Hardik Pandya and Piyush Chawla who chipped in with three wickets each, as they choked out the SRH middle-order. But, a stellar innings from Pat Cummins instilled a bit of belief and runs onto the board as SRH limped to 173.

But, it was just not meant to be for the visitors, despite their fiery start, as Suryakumar Yadav would go on to light the Wankhede skies up with sixes and boundaries galore, as he wrapped up the endeavour with ease, with a six and a century to show for the same.

MI’s win does very little to inspire any drastic change in the table. But, they will be happy to witness that they hopped their way out of dead-last and up to 9th in the table, as GT moves down to rock-bottom.

SRH’s loss did not hurt them instantly as they still remain in fourth place, but this has opened a window of opportunity for CSK to solidify their claim for third place, as the Chennai side takes the cake over SRH and LSG due to their higher NRR.

LSG stand fifth respectively with a NRR of -0.37. Lucknow has completed 11 outings this season with their loss to KKR, while SRH threw away the game they had in hand. But these two still remain in heated competition over the last spot for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals, who have 10 points from 11 fixtures so far stand sixth, ahead of Royal Challengers (7th), Punjab Kings (8th) and Gujarat Titans (10th), who all have amassed 8 points this season and are separated by net run rate.
