7 Ways to Change the Color of Your iPhone Screen or Text
Do you want to change or fix the color of your iPhone screen? You can use iOS' accessibility features to invert your screen colors, add filters to change the hue, and even use Dark Mode or Night Shift to lessen eye strain. Here's how to change the color of your iPhone.
Adjusting the Color Theme of an iPhone

Inverting Display Colors

Open the Settings app. This is the grey cog icon. Use this method to invert colors on your iPhone screen. When a color is inverted, you'll see its opposite color.

Tap Accessibility. You may need to scroll down to find this option.

Tap Display & Test Size. This is underneath the Vision header.

Toggle on iPhone Switch On Icon "Smart Invert". This will invert all colors on your iPhone screen except for images. To invert all colors on your screen, including images, toggle on Classic Invert.

Adding Color Filters

Open the Settings app. This is the grey cog icon. Keep in mind that adding color filters can change how images and videos look.

Tap Accessibility. You may need to scroll down to find this option.

Tap Display & Test Size. This is underneath the Vision header.

Tap Color Filters. You can find this below the Invert options.

Toggle on iPhone Switch On Icon "Color Filters". Once this is turned on, you'll be able to select a filter and its intensity.

Tap a filter. You can select: Greyscale, Red/Green Filter (Protanopia), Green/Red Filter (Deuteranopia), Blue/Yellow Filter (Tritanopia), and Color Tint. You'll see a preview of the color at the top. Swipe left to view different comparison images.

Adjust the intensity. Use the sliding scale to choose an intensity. To decrease the intensity, move the circle towards the left. To increase the intensity, move the circle towards the right. If you selected Color Tint, you'll also have the option to adjust the Hue. Move the circle to select a hue. When you're finished, tap the back arrow to save your changes.

Changing Screen Brightness

Tap Accessibility. You may need to scroll down to find this option.

Tap Display & Test Size. This is underneath the Vision header.

Toggle on iPhone Switch On Icon "Auto-Brightness". You can find this at the very bottom of the page. To manually change your screen brightness, open the Control Center by swiping down on the top-right corner of the screen. On iPhones with a Home button, swipe up. Tap and drag the slider up to increase the brightness, or drag it down to decrease the brightness.

Enabling Dark Mode

Open the Control Center. Swipe down on the top-right corner of the screen. On iPhones with a Home button, swipe up. Dark Mode changes the color scheme of your iPhone into a dark theme, making it easier to view in low-light places.

Using Night Shift Mode

Enable Reduce Transparency

Open the Settings app. This is the grey cog icon. If you have trouble seeing transparent icons, you can make them opaque.

Tap Accessibility. You may need to scroll down to find this option.

Tap Display & Test Size. This is underneath the Vision header.

Toggle on iPhone Switch On Icon "Reduce Transparency". This will give a solid color to app backgrounds and icons.

Changing iPhone Body Color

Exchange your iPhone. If you decide that you want a different body color for your iPhone, you'll need to exchange it or purchase a new one. If you purchased your iPhone directly from Apple, you have 14 calendar days to return or exchange it.

Purchase a skin or case. If you're unable to exchange your iPhone, consider purchasing a skin or case. A skin is essentially a sticker you can place over the body of your phone to change its color. A case can hide the original color while adding extra protection.

What's your reaction?
