Unlinking a Credit Card Options
Call 1-800-950-5114. Explain that you want to unlink a card and the customer support will help you even if the Unlink button is missing from your account online.
Chat online. Using a web browser instead of the app, chat with customer support, and explain that you want to remove a card from your account. They will help you unlink that card even if the Unlink button is missing!
CitiManager. The Unlink button may or may not be available, so this isn't always a reliable way to remove a card from your Citibank account. To do this, click your profile picture, select Link/Unlink Card Account > Unlink, then fill in the required information and click Continue.
Reasons for Unlinking
Here are some reasons for you to unlink a credit card: Closed account - getting rid of cards that you don't use is a good way to avoid confusion later. Security concerns - unlinking your account adds another layer of security back to your credit card. Simplifying your finances - having lots of cards attached to a single account can get overwhelming, cluttered, and confusing; unlinking cards lets you organize your connected accounts.
Closing Your Citi Card
You can close your account by either chatting online or calling customer support. If you're online, you can log into your account to initiate a chat with customer support; if you're calling customer support, you'll need the account number for the card you want to close.
