A division bench of the High Court comprising acting chief justice PC Ghose and justice Vilas V Afzulpurkar on Monday directed the state government to appoint vice-chancellor to the YSR Horticulture University in accordance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission.
The bench was dealing with a petition filed by Devarakonda Pratap, a research scholar, seeking suspension of the university notification issued on May 25, 2011.
He complained that the impugned notification had prescribed that a professor with six years’ experience was eligible for the post whereas the UGC guidelines say 10 years experience as professor or equivalent experience in academic administration shall be considered for the post.
