Bachchans' take on 15-km holy walk
For the Bachchans, the walk to Sidhivinayak temple was a spiritual trek the family undertakes in times of crisis.

New Delhi: The cameras can never be too far behind the Bachchans and Tuesday was a busy day for the family, though all for a good cause.

Superstar Amitabh Bachchan and son Abhishek Bachchan were seen walking barefoot on the way to the Sidhivinayak temple in Mumbai early Tuesday morning, on a spiritual trek the family usually undertakes in times of crisis.

The Bachchans left home late Monday night walked the 15-kilometre distance barefoot to the temple, which is dedicated to the elephant-headed Hindu god Ganesha, in Prabhadevi in central Mumbai.

Sources said Amitabh’s mother is ill and the family earlier had visited several major temples, reportedly also to pray for Abhishek and actress Aishwarya Rai, who are reportedly set to marry but whose stars are not in harmony.

Though Abhishek did seem to be too pleased with the intrusion to his prayers, we wonder if he was asking God to bless his film Guru which hits theatres on Friday.

Surely, after his last movie with Aishwarya, Umrao Jaan, failed to ignite any passion at the box office, Abhishek probably needs all the blessings he can get.

Last year, after Amitabh recovered from a surgery, the family made a similar barefoot walk to the temple to thank Ganesha.

The 64-year-old star and his family offered prayers, flowers and lit incense sticks amid the chanting by priests at the temple.

They offered special prayers to Lord Siddhivinayak in whom the family has immense faith, a priest at the temple was quoted as saying.
