Former actor Udhayanidhi Stalin broke down as mourners greeting him at Murasoli Selvam's last rites.

Actor-politician Udhayanidhi Stalin couldn’t hold back his tears as he mourned Murasoli Selvam’s death. Murasoli, who was a journalist, DMK’s mouthpiece Murasoli and brother-in-law of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, died on Thursday, October 10. Murasoli’s mortal reamins have been taken to M Karunanidhi’s home in Chennai for last darshans before the funeral.

In videos surfaced online, Udhayanidhi was seen breaking down and crying inconsolably. The actor was comforted by a fellow family member. Meanwhile, MK Stalin was also seen mourning his brother-in-law’s death. Watch the video below:

Murasoli Selvam was married to MK Stalin’s sister Selvi. According to ANI, Murasoli died in Bengaluru. India Today reported that he had a heart attack. He passed away on Thursday, at the age of 82.

In a statement to the press, Stalin said he had lost his pillar. “I am deprived of a shoulder to rest on and a pillar of ideological support after that of Kalaignar (Karunanidhi). The demise of Selvam has left my heart bleeding with agony, hit by a thunderbolt. Right from my childhood, he was a brother, guide, and counsellor in politics, offering solutions with clarity. Furthermore, he stood shoulder to shoulder with me in my growth as well as that of the DMK,” he said.

Meanwhile, Udhayanidhi was last seen in Maamannan. The film released in 2023, and marked his last film before he ventured completely into politics. He has been helping Stalin by completing his duties as the Deputy Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. Udhayanidhi was seen in films such as 7aum Arivu, Madrasapattinam, Mynaa, Oru Kal Oru Kannadi, Gethu and Manithan, to name a few.
