ALUVA: In a major breakthrough in containing drug trafficking, Aluva Police led by CI S Jayakrishnan and SI Nishad Ibrahim nabbed four persons including two migrant labours of drug mafia here on Friday evening. The arrested are Samedur, 25 and Mohammed Mashadul, 23 of West Bengal and Nishad, 29 of Kalamassery and Vinu Varghese, 31 of Thoppumpady.Acting on the instruction of Ernakulam rural police district chief Harshita Attaluri, the police were closely observing the CCTV at the railway station premises which resulted in the arrest of the accused. The police seized 15 packets of psychotropic substances like brown sugar, Lupigesic ampoules and Ganga. Several syringes were also recovered from them.After grilling the accused police realised that they were members of the drug mafia indulged in peddling of banned substances among the migrant labours. Police have intensified the search for more culprits handling drugs.
