HUBLI: Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda assured to resolve several problems of teachers like discrimination in salary and promotions for which a high-level meeting will be held within 15 days.Addressing a Teachers’ Day function at the Gokul Garden in Hubli on Monday, the chief minister said that the chief secretary and finance secretary of the government will be actively involved in the meeting to resolve all problems.The government has decided to include salary in grant for educational institutions which started before the academic year of 1994-95. Following this, the government has released the grant of Rs. 65 crore of the institutions which started before 1991. The state government has given more importance to the education department as Rs. 12,000 crore has been provided in the budget and Rs. 10,000 crore was reserved for primary education. Around 45,000 government primary schools, 4,200 high schools and 6,000 aided schools have been running in the state. For higher education, Rs. 2,000 crore has been reserved in the state and a few universities which are based particularly on agriculture, literature and technologies would come up in the state soon, he explained. The responsibilities of the teachers have been increased while the general moral values and social responsibilities have been decreasing. Primary Education Minister Visweshwar Hegde Kageri said that, to implement the Right to Education Act, the state government has been providing all necessary funds and mechanisms and is also seeking more funds from the Union government.RDPR Minister Jagadish Shettar said that, the state government has had a good performance rate compared to the other states in the education sector, in rural development and infrastructure development. On the occasion, CM DVS Gowda conferred State Award, Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Award, Excellence in Science Award for 47 teachers of primary, HS and PU Colleges.
