BANGALORE: M S Ramaiah Hospitals and Rotary Bangalore Sadashivanagar is conducting a free Artificial Limb Camp at Ramaiah Hospitals, Gokula, till June 25. M S Ramaiah Hospitals and Rotary Bangalore Sadashivanagar jointly established MSR-Rotary Limb Centre in 2009 to assist and help physically challenged. In this centre, different types of disabilities are diagnosed and appropriate physical aids/appliances are manufactured and given free of cost to the needy. The centre, located within M S Ramaiah Hospitals campus on New BEL Road, has about 4500 sq ft building with all required equipment. Several trained technicians and administrative staff man this centre. Orthopedic doctors examine physically challenged patients who visits this centre and prescribe corrective appliances. The centre recently received funds under Rotary Matching Grants (MG No.73682 for year 2010-2011) for manufacturing and distributing of about 1000 limbs. Who all can benefit from this centre?  Any person who lost his/her limb due to an accident. A diabetic patient who lost his/her limb due to amputation. Those with physical deformity and weak limbs due to polio are given calipers, crutches and knee braces and shoes. The centre is open from 9 am - 4 pm throughout the year (except on Sundays).
