TIRUCHY: The Anti Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Tiruchy rescued four north Indian children employed in menial jobs and arrested the man involved in the crime. When the AHTU led by Inspector P S Chitra went on a inspection, they found a group of north Indian boys engaged in menial jobs at NSB road. The team secured all the boys and brought them to Fort All Women Police Station.On inquiry, the boys were found to be Ramesh (13), Pankaj (17), Lathiram (14) and Monu (13) all from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.During further investigation, it was revealed that they were brought by a vendor Sivam (45) also a native of Kanpur. Soon the information was passed on to DCP (Law and Order) S Jayapandian who arrived at the police station and conducted inquiries with the children.Police arrested Sivam who was making the children do petty jobs including cotton candy, selling of kerchiefs and other petty things. Sivam said that he had employed as many as seven such children from Kanpur and most of them did not know their parents. During further inquiries, Sivam told that he was employing them in menial jobs in return for feeding them and providing shelter. Later, the police handed over the four children to Child Welfare Committee Member T Jayanti Ranee who took them to the Child Line.
