New Delhi: Showing off its first prototype, Google last year had announced its plans to design prescription frames for Google Glass, and within less than a year the company has announced their availability.
Google has released four feather-light titanium frames - Split, Thin, Bold and Curve - for the Google Glass, which fit with your prescription lenses. All four frames are available for $225.
In addition to Titanium frames, Google has added three styles of shades - Active, Classic and Edge - for its Internet-connected glasses. The twist-on shades will cost $150 each. Classic and Edge are new, while Active came with the existing Explorer edition of Glass.
The new frames are available for early adopters, who are primarily computer programmers and winners of an online contest conducted earlier this year.
"So we want you to be the first to know that the Titanium Collection is here, with a handful of new styles for Glass so you can make it your own. Whether you wear prescription glasses or just want a new look, we've got four feather-light titanium frames designed just for you. And if you need prescription lenses and have vision insurance (such as VSP), your policy might even help cover your new frames," said Google in a post on Google Plus.
The Glass design is modular, so users will be able to add frames and lenses that match their prescription, said Google.
Google Glass is at the forefront of a new wave of technology known as "wearable computing." Google Glass is expected to be commercially available to the broader public by the end of this year.
