The Kerala High Court on Wednesday asked the district collectors of Wayanad, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Kollam to take possession of the surplus land intended to be surrendered by the Harrison Malayalam Limited.
The Bench comprising Justice M Sasidharan Nambiar and Justice P Bhavadasan passed the order while considering a batch of petitions challenging the illegal possession of land by Harrisons. The court directed the company to identify the excess land within seven days.
The state government said that steps have been taken to take possession of the excess land. The court declined to consider the contention of the company that it was not aware of the identity of the land offered to be surrendered.
The company sought a directive to the District Collectors to identify and demarcate the land with the assistance of surveyors and officials of the company.
