HYDERABAD: A red alert has been sounded in the twin cities ahead of December 6, the anniversary of Babri Masjid demolition which coincides with Muharrum. Police are taking precautions to ensure the day passes off without any untoward incident. Additional paramilitary forces have been rushed to the city and all steps taken to keep the city peaceful, additional director-general of police (Law & Order) SA Huda said. The additional forces would be deployed in sensitive areas.Meanwhile, city police commissioner AK Khan said vehicle checking would be taken up from Sunday till the morning of December 7. According to Khan, communal offenders were being taken into preventive custody and a vigil kept on possible trouble- makers.Police are already on an alert following ‘communal’ attacks in the recent past and patrolling has been intensified in sensitive areas. Special teams have been formed and bomb disposal squads pressed into service to sanitise public places and places of worship. Police are also focusing on areas where there is a possibility of trouble between two groups of a particular community over observing Muharrum.
