KARAIKAL: Karaikal South, MLA AMH Nazeem has urged the Puducherry Government to appoint a technician and operate the dialysis unit at the Karaikal Government Hospital.Speaking to reporters, Nazeem said the dialysis unit, set up last year, remained non-functional for the last six months, since a technician was not appointed to operate the machine.He pointed out that the dialysis unit was established at the Karaikal Government Hospital for the benefit of patients suffering renal ailments. Patients are now travelling to Puducherry for dialysis.“The very purpose of establishing the unit has been defeated due to lack of a technician,” said Nazeem and urged the Government to take corrective action soon.Nursing College Pointing out that the Union Health Ministry had accorded nod for starting a Diploma course in Nursing at Karaikal and had even allocated `5 crore for constructing buildings, Nazeem said the sanctioned amount had not been obtained for the construction so far. He urged the Pondy Government to get the sanctioned funds from the Union Government and start nursing courses this year itself.
