The body of nine-year-old Jyotsna, who had been reported missing during the landslide that struck Pullooramapara on Monday, was recovered after a three-day search, authorities said here on Thursday.
The body was recovered at Elavanjipuzha, more than 3km away from the spot where Jyotsna had been caught in the landslide.
The girl, daughter of Binu and Sheeba from Anakkampoyil, was a fourth standard student at the Government UP School, Anakkampoyil. Her body was the last to be recovered with the bodies of seven other victims, which were recovered on Monday and Tuesday. Meanwhile, the Geological Survey of India has been tasked with finding out the causes of the landslide and suggesting measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Senior scientist Dr Sajin Kumar will visit the area on Friday to study the incident, District Collector K V Mohan Kumar said here on Thursday. He added that the pattayamela that had been scheduled to be held at the Tagore Centenary Hall on Saturday has been postponed due to the disaster.
‘Shutters to be Replaced’
T’Puram: The shutters of the Pazhassi Dam will be replaced within a year, Water Resources Minister P J Joseph said on Thursday. The decision comes in the wake of the widespread destruction caused by the overflowing of the dam.
The government has sanctioned Rs 7 crore for the work and entrusted the job with KEL.
