Gurgaon: High drama unfolded in Gurgaon after a man was abducted and his car was hijacked by three youths on gunpoint on Saturday early morning.
The victim - Prashant Yadav - was secured after a 10-minute chase on NH-8 by the cops who luckily survived a gun shot fired by one of the anti-socials.
It happened hours after Delhi police on Friday issued an alert after the driver of a taxi allegedly hijacked by three unidentified men from Pathankot was found murdered in Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.
Sources said, around 2 am three youths kidnapped Yadav and hijacked his Swift car (registration number HR26AZ6331) on gunpoint in Gurgaon at Block-U in DLF Phase-III.
After committing the crime, the trio took the NH-8, which connects Delhi, Mumbai, as well as important cities like Gurgaon, Jaipur, Ahmedabad etc.
In the meantime, the victim noticed a police picket on NH-8 and suddenly jumped from the car to save himself from the kidnappers. He rushed towards the policemen and sensing danger one of the kidnappers reportedly fired aiming at the policemen.
However, the bullet missed the cop and hit Yadav's right leg. He collapsed but immediately secured by the cops guarding the highway. The trio immediately 'reversed' the car in an attempt to flee.
One of the policemen Dharmendra who was present on the picket, challenged the criminals and after a short chase managed to arrest one of the kidnappers. He was identified as Pawan alias Amit (20), a resident of Lowa Khurd district in Haryana. The others managed to escape.
His gun and mobile phone have been seized and a FIR (No 65/16) was lodged against him. Pawan was booked under sections 365/397/307/186/353IPC & 25/27/54/ 59 Arms act.
During interrogation he disclosed the names of his associates as Pravin and Punit - both residents of Jhajjar in Haryana.
