Nepali girl dies in freak mishap

COIMBATORE:  In a tragic incident, a Nepali student at the TNAU died after her ‘dupatta’ got entangled in a machine at the research laboratory, strangulating her.The deceased, C Shrijana Gairhe ( 25), daughter of Chandrakanth Gairhe from Katmandu in Nepal, was a second-year MSc Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry student.On Tuesday evening, Shrijana had gone to the Radioisotope laboratory for a project work. Around 6.20 pm, while she was engaged in research work, her ‘dupatta’ got entangled in a plant sample grinder machine.Another research scholar, who entered the lab, noticed her lying on the floor and informed the professors. Shrijana was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her ‘brought dead’. The  university authorities then informed the police following which the body was taken to the CMCH, where it was kept in the mortuary.  “Shrijana’s parents have been informed and they are on their way to Coimbatore,” sources said. The autopsy would be performed on Thursday, they added.
