The police team investigating the murder of a woman at her house in Mathirappally suspect that someone very close to her was behind the murder.
The body of the 30-year-old woman Shoji, wife of Shaji, was taken to Alappuzha Medical College for post-mortem examination. “No substantial evidence has been obtained so far in the crime,” Kothamangalam CI K P Jose said.
The police said that various people, including Shoji’s husband, close relatives and the employees, who reported the crime to Shaji, are being cross-examined. The calls to them are also being traced.
However, the police said that someone who is very familiar to her and who know about the house is suspected to be behind the murder. “We suspect that the murder was committed by more than one person as nobody could hear any screams at the time of the incident,” police officials said. Meanwhile, the examination conducted by the forensic experts suggested that the death occurred because of a deep injury on the chest cavity using a sharp object.
However, forensic experts had a hard time taking the fingerprint evidence as several people had entered the room and touched the body of Shoji before their arrival.
Shoji is the mother of two children - Aparna and Abhishek. Her husband Shaji is running a shop called Akshaya Tools in Kothamangalam town. He was not at home while the intrusion and murder took place. The assassins also took away the valuables, including the gold ornaments estimated around 30 sovereigns.
