Chhattisgarh: Shiksha Mitras in the capital city of Raipur have decided convene a Maha Panchayat on May 11 to demand for them to be merged with full-time teaching staff.
On May 7, representatives of the assistant teachers’ committee met with Raipur collector OP Chaudhary to ask for permission to hold the meeting.
The association members asked for permission to convene the one-day meeting at ‘dharna sthal (protest spot)’ in Budha Talab, where previous major Shiksha Mitra demonstrations have taken place. However, they were asked to hold their Maha Panchayat at the Hind Sporting Ground.
The assistant teachers are still hopeful of being permitted to convene at Budha Talab, from where they hope to sound the horn in their protest against the government.
Representatives of the association have said that although a committee has been convened to look into Shiksha Mitras' demands, the government is dilly-dallying on the doing anything further.
Therefore, they have now decided to hold a Maha Panchayat to discuss their future course of action.
