Sania-Mattek face Williams sisters, Paes-Dlouhy in semis
Sania Mirza and Bethaine Mattek reached the last eight in the women's doubles.

New Delhi: On Monday night Sania Mirza and Bethaine Mattek of the USA reached the last eight in the women's doubles.

The 13th seeded Indo-US pair fought back from being a set down to level the match and took a 2-0 lead in the decider when their opponents Akgul Amanmuradova of Uzbekistan and Darya Kustova of Belarus retired hurt with the score at 4-6, 6-4, 2-0.

They will now play the 11th seeded Williams sisters in the quarter-finals.

Leander Paes and his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy have also moved into the semi-finals of the men's doubles event at the Wimbledon beating the third seeded pair of Jonathan Elrich and Andy Ram of Israel.

The ninth seeds won the match in straight sets 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 with ease.

The match lasted one hour and 45 minutes and Paes and Dlouhy outplayed their opponents in all areas of the game. They will now play second seeds Daniel Nestor of Canada and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia in the semi-finals.
