Strict check on drunken driving during festive season

New Delhi: In the capital the campaign against drunken driving is on in full swing this festive season.

The Delhi police say they have booked 176 people on Christmas Eve alone. Checks for driving under the influence will be carried out every night, through New Year's Eve.

The checks will begin from 0900 hrs IST and will continue up to 1400 hrs IST. Officials say that the crackdown will be most intensive on December 31.

In fact, magistrates will be on the spot that night, for instant legal action.

The Delhi police is in no mood to be merry this Christmas. In fact, they are getting tougher with those who drink and drive this festive season.
