THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Technopark will host the 12th edition of BarCamp Kerala, which is an informal gathering of tech-savvy people who love to talk and share information on latest technology, gadgets and developments in the virtual world. It is after an interval of three years that BarCamp is returning to Technopark, the fifth edition being the last time it was hosted by the IT village. The latest event is to be held on April 22. ‘What is the role of a youth?’ ‘How far can an MLA or MP contribute?’ These questions form the base of one of the sessions, ‘The future of politics’ to be presented by Kenny Jacob, who is one of the people who introduced the concept in Kerala. As many as 11 sessions have already been volunteered by many techies. The themes are as diverse as they could get. Sample them: ‘India engineered’ by Krishna Raj S R, which is his journey and experiences with ‘Do Network’ by Lenovo and NDTV. Krishna is one of those who have decided to open up for the first time in front of a gathering and BarCamp being an informal place is the right place to start, he says in the official website hosted for the event (http://www.barcampkerala.org/blog). The other session, ‘Kuriyedathu Thathri and social media’ by Sujith T John, is a big data analysis on the sociopolitical scenario of Kerala. Arun Basil Lal will lead a discussion on, ‘How to survive the world after college and take the routes less taken.’ Dhanan Sekhar Edathara will share his experience as Game Developer in DhaneW Research. ‘Aura components for PHP 5.4’; ‘Windows re-imagined’; ‘Applied math for application developers’; ‘Welcome to the real world’; ‘It sucks, but you are gonna love it’; ‘Web development for/in the cloud’; ‘Starting up - Myths Vs realities’ and ‘Startup village’ are the other sessions. It was BarCamp Kerala that first introduced the concept of ‘Unconference’ in the State, which is a breakup from the traditional mode of a conference. There are no method speeches, introductions on the stage, lengthy speeches in ironed out words or dress code. Those who love technology meet, share and discuss their experiences in their respective fields for the others to know.  ‘’Over the years, we have only gathered new participants and are gaining strength. Even the sessions are becoming more interesting with each passing year,’’ says Kenny Jacob. As many as 125 people have already confirmed their attendance at the event.
