New Delhi: Top commanders of the Indian Army discussed a number of issues related to operations and other aspects at a four-day conference which concluded in New Delhi on Thursday.
On the last day of the Army Commanders Conference, which began on April 16, several sessions were conducted during which Army Chief General V K Singh interacted with the Commanders and deliberated on operational matters and other issues, officials said.
The conference was inaugurated on April 16 by Defence Minister A K Antony who asked the commanders to take appropriate steps in view of the developments in Afghanistan last week.
Antony had also called for further strengthening coordination in various operational, training and administrative facets among the three services and the Defence Ministry.
"The various security challenges before our Armed Forces require a concerted effort by all the wings of our Armed Forces. No single service can achieve the national goals all by itself," the Defence Minister had said.
During the Conference, the Commanders discussed various issues concerning modernisation, development and human resource management of the Army.
Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal N A K Browne and Navy Chief Admiral Nirmal Verma also delivered a lecture during the conference on the modernisation plans of their forces and joint trainings respectively.
Yesterday, during an interaction with the senior Defence Ministry officials, the Commanders had raised a number of pending issues related to land, works, training, Army Services Corps and adventure sports which were cleared by the Ministry after discussion.
Defence Secretary Shashikant Sharma had led the team of Ministry officials.
