The chargesheet filed by SIT in the TP murder case has pointed out that CPM leaders, especially CPM district secretariat member P Mohanan, were involved in the murder conspiracy right from the beginning.
“With the consent of Mohanan, CPM Onchiyam area committee secretary C H Ashokan and member K K Krishnan held discussions with Kunnummakkara local committee member K C Ramachandran at the flower shop owned by CPM Orkatteri local committee member Padayankandi Raveendran on April 2, 2012 between 3.15 pm and 3.45 pm and entrusted Ramachandran with the duty of executing the operation,” the report said.
Ramachandran later contacted CPM leaders Vadakkayil Manoj and Jyothi Babu and held talks with first accused Anoop and third accused N K Sunil Kumar alias Kodi Suni at Sameera Quarters in Chokli, Kannur on April 10, 2012.
Further, Ramachandran and Vadakkayil Manoj visited the house of CPM Panur area committee member P K Kunjananthan at Parat in Kannur on April 20, 2012.
According to the report, “Kunjananthan telephoned P Mohanan at the number 9495804804 using the mobile phone (9747170471) of Ramachandran and ensured that the ‘operation’ had the support of CPM leadership. Later, Kirmani Manoj, Kodi Suni, K K Mohammed Shafi and K Shinoj chalked out a plan to murder Chandrasekharan at Kunjananthan’s house on April 24, 2012.
As per the plan, six men among the seven killer gang travelled through Onchiyam and Orkatteri regions along with M P Sanoop on April 25 but failed. A similar attempt made by the gang two days later also turned futile. Later, through attempts on May 2 and 3, the killer gang identified T P Chandrasekharan with the help of Padayankandi Ravindran but could not execute the operation as the SIM card had not become operational. On May 4, Kodi Suni himself deployed K P Dipin as a spotter. Around 9.10 pm on that day, Dipin passed the whereabouts of Chandrasekharan to Kodi Suni and team, who were waiting near the Orkatteri taxi stand.
The report said that Kodi Suni confirmed the registration number of Chandrasekharan’s bike by calling K C Ramachandran minutes before the operation. The gang, which followed Chandrasekharan in the Innova Car (KL 58 D 8144), overtook his bike at Vellikkulangara town, returned through the right side of road and knocked down Chandrasekharan near the CWSA office building at the Kainatti-Orkatteri stretch. Five members - Kodi Suni, T K Rajeesh, Mohammed Shafi, Sijith and Shinoj - repeatedly hacked Chandrasekkharan, who fell down after the collision.
Kirmani Manoj hurled a country bomb at the mob which was rushing towards the spot. After the operation, the gang escaped in the same vehicle to Chokli. During the operation, the gang used fake registration number (KL 18A 5964). The report added that Ramachandran handed over `50,000 to the gang as two instalments of Rs 10,000 and 40,000 to Anoop on April 24 and 25, respectively. It further pointed out Vazhapadachi Rafeeq arranged the Innova car by giving a forged cheque.
