HYDERABAD: "The fact is, that to do anything in the world worth doing, we must not stand back shivering and thinking of cold and danger, but jump in and scramble through as well as we can," goes the famous lines by singer and songwriter Robert Cushing. Taking forward this philosophy, the Hyderabad Management Association gave out its 39th Annual Awards to successful entrepreneurs from the state at at the FAPCII Federation House on Saturday.
A case in point being Laxman Soma, chief executive, CSK Technologies who received the Smallscale Entrepreneur of the Year award. Started in 1997, CSK Technologies has developed more than 250 indigenous replacement parts for the mining industry as import substitutes. They developed the Lightweight Miners Cap Lamp and Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer roofs, becoming the first company to manufacture these items on a commercial basis. The weight of the old lamp was 2.5 kg but the one developed by CSK was just 600 gm.
