Adilabad: People from rural areas have to rush to the district headquarters for every small requirement. And rural people in Adilabad district are no different. But they are deprived of public transport which only is affordable for many of them. Yet, they do not mind waiting for long hours to board a private vehicle or even walk a few miles to go about their work. For, they are all in solidarity with the striking RTC employees.
Alluri Suryakanth and Hemalatha are among such people who are willing to suffer for a few days rather than lose the chance of living in a state of their 'own'. The couple came to Adilabad from Pipalkoti village in Tamsi mandal two days ago to get treatment for their oneyearold daughter who was suffering from fever. On Saturday, the doctor discharged their daughter from the hospital and they waited at the bus station for more than five hours to board a private vehicle (fourwheeler) to reach their village."Thankfully, we have bus connectivity but we had to travel in a fourwheeler up and down with the RTC staff on strike," explains Suryakanth. But, neither he nor his wife is complaining about it. "We are ready to wait even for another two days to reach our village. But we want the RTC staff to continue their struggle as achieving T is of paramount importance," said Chandrakala, a BSc and BEd degree holder who could not get a job despite holding two degrees.
