Washington: Addicted to your smartphone? Try these signal deflecting clothes! A Japanese designer has come up with a radical new way to combat smartphone addiction - a new clothing line crafted from fibres that deflect electromagnetic waves and render your phone completely unusable.

The clothing line developed by designer Kunihiko Morinaga, called 'Focus: Life Gear by Trident', includes jackets, shirts and pants made out of material that will block radio waves from reaching your smartphone.

People wearing the clothes won't be distracted by the dings and buzzes from tweets, emails, and Facebook messages as long as their cellphone is in their pocket, CNET reported.

In theory, the clothes encourage people to engage with the world around them.

However, it would take a while before the garment line, which was unveiled during Toronto Fashion Week, makes its way to the market, the report said.
