Youth jumps to death from balcony

BANGALORE:  A 23-year old youth allegedly committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of his flat in BTM II stage on Saturday.The deceased has been identified as Pranav Kumar, son of Guru Datta. Pranav Kumar died on the spot after he jumped from the balcony of his 14th floor Lake Apartment in BTM Layout at around 1.30 am. The reason for his death is yet to be ascetrtain, the Mico Layout police said. The incident came to light at around 1.45 am on Saturday.  The body of Pranav is now at the mortuary of Victoria Hospital. Pranav was said to be living with his family members and his father is a doctor. Mico Layout Police said, “Pranav’s mother suspected that he might have taken this extreme step due to depression. He belonged to an NRI family and graduated in Chemistry from a university US.” In the meantime, the police said that they will carry out the investigation in connection with the incident as soon as Pranav’s father Guru Datta reaches the city. The Mico Layout police have registered a complaint in this regard and are investigating.
