South Korean actor Kim Min-kyu has begun a new chapter in his life. The Business Proposal star has enlisted himself into the mandatory 18-month military service, starting April 1. Bidding his fans a temporary goodbye, he recently dropped a string of pictures on Instagram. Flaunting his buzz-cut hairstyle, the 29-year-old has assured his admirers that he would be “back safely”. As soon as the pictures surfaced on the social media platform, his followers wished him good luck for the new journey ahead. Kim Min-kyu’s management agency Companion Company announced the actor’s enlistment through his official fan cafe earlier on March 1.
“I’ll be back safely,” captioned Kim Min-kyu. He was dressed in a black T-shirt and matching trousers, layering them with a grey chequered shirt and a black hooded jacket. The actor sported a pair of round-framed black sunglasses. His short buzz cut was on full display. Standing beside a car, Kim Min-kyu executed a military salute and flashed his subtle smile. He even winked in one of the clicks.

Kim Min-kyu’s fans let go of the actor with a heavy heart, sending him love in the comments. “Take good care of yourself my life, eat well and come back well fat and healthy,” said a fan.
“Hope your military service is going to be smooth,” wished another. Comparing Kim Min-kyu with boyband BTS member Jungkook, who is also serving his duty in the military, a fan wrote, “You look like Jungkook. You are also handsome. Stay safe. Come back safely. We all wait for you!”
Many shared the sentiment, “We’re going to miss you”.
An excerpt of the elaborate statement released by Companion Company read, “Actor Kim Min-kyu will enlist as an active duty soldier in the army on April 1. No official events will be held on the day he enters the recruit training center. Please understand that his enlistment will be held privately to prevent safety incidents due to congestion on site.”

Kim Min-kyu debuted in the entertainment circuit with the 2013 Mnet series Monstar. He has starred in many acclaimed films and television shows like Chasing, Sodak Sodak, The Heavenly Idol, Queen: Love and War, Snowdrop and Rain or Shine among others.
