Karan Singh Grover, known for his remarkable performances in daily soaps including ‘Dill Mill Gaye’ and ‘Qubool Hai’ has been exploring the B-town since quite some time now.
In an exclusive interview with IBNLive.com, Karan talks about his magnificent journey from small screen to the big golden screen referring to it as ‘just the beginning’. Having played the character of Dr Armaan Malik in ‘Dill Mill Gaye’ and being able to create such a huge fan following, he says, “I played a role that is very close to my heart and very near to who I’m as a person.” Moving to another show ‘Qubool Hai’ and then trying his hands on production and direction, the actor received an offer for ‘Alone’ that might not have been a box office hit but he was content with the ‘decent opening’ the film got.
The actor who will now be seen in ‘Hate Story 3’ that is based on love, lust and revenge feels grateful that things are going his way. “I always wanted to play different kind of roles, show different type of stories to the audience, show varied aspects of myself.”
The heart throbbing actor, who gained popularity with television feels that a daily soap project takes up a lot of time for which he isn't ready at the moment. However, he is still open to doing television, if given a chance to star in season based shows. “While I enjoy that as well, but I don’t have that 1 year to give to one project.”
On being asked about who his inspirations are for such amazing style cues, he not only credited it to Sylvester Stallone but revealed his admiration for Sallu bhai with a wide smile on his face. “Salman Khan has always been an inspiration, and he always will be. When we went to the Bigg Boss house, we spent some time together, we even worked out together. Nobody knows this. It was fun, I was really happy.”
Fitness is one aspect that managed to strike the chord between good friends Karan and Bipasha Basu. When asked about other things they’ve in common, he said, “We love travelling too. She loves vacations, so do I. She loves eating, so do I.” The actor seems to have planned a vacation for the end of December already. Thailand is what he told us!
Karan, who is as fit as a fiddle believes everybody deserves the happiness of working out which will not only help in leading a healthy lifestyle but will also increase their life expectancy. “Make fitness your first priority. You’ll go to the gym, you’ll workout and your brain will release endorphin that makes you feel happy. You need to do that for yourself. Everyone deserves that happiness. We don’t sleep or eat on time, this is the only machine we have. We need to take care of it, we’ll last longer this way!”
He strongly believes that director Vishal Pandya opened his eyes to ‘different ways of looking at things’. Vishal instructed Karan to “not watch any movies, not prepare anything, not think of the character but just come blank” which was quite an experience for the actor who confessed that with all the other roles he has done so far, everything from his chewing style to his walking style, everything was pre-prepared.
Karan Singh Grover, who is believed to be an extrovert by nature, also admitted that he’s extremely shy when it comes to singing. “I sing only in the loo. I’m extremely shy when it comes to singing. I’ve composed a song with my brother, we’ll be releasing it soon.”
The actor will be next seen in ‘3 Dev’ releasing in April. This comedy story revolves around the lives of 3 orphans; Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh.
