Despite getting positive reviews, Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer is struggling to rule the box office. The film, which was released on January 25, witnessed another drop in its collection on Thursday, February 1. As reported by Sacnilk, early estimates suggest that Fighter earned Rs. 5.75 crore nett in India on its eighth day i.e. on Thursday.
The portal reported that the Siddharth Anand directorial film has minted Rs. 5.75 crore nett in India across all languages. This is a drop of nearly a crore from the seventh day when the film had earned Rs. 6.5 crore. The film’s nett domestic collection now stands at Rs. 146.25 crore. The aerial action film had an overall 11.33% Hindi occupancy on Thursday.
While the film opened to huge numbers, it was been witnessing a constant drop in its second week. Recently, trade analyst Taran Adarsh also took to X and shared that the Indian collection of the Siddharth Anand directorial is very “shocking”. “The underperformance of #Fighter has sent shock waves within the industry… Imagine, the film ticks all the boxes – right from star names and director’s credentials to tremendous critical acclaim and positive audience feedback… Yet, the dwindling numbers in #India are a complete shocker,” he wrote.
Fighter has a run time of 2 hours and 46 minutes. The Central Board of Film Certification granted a U/A certification to the film. Besides Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, the film stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi, Sanjeeda Shaikh, Talat Aziz, Pradum Shukla, and Pradum Jaykar in pivotal roles. The film marks Hrithik and Deepika’s third film with Siddharth Anand. Hrithik previously worked with the filmmaker in Bang Bang and War. Deepika had worked with him in Bachna Ae Haseeno and Pathaan.
News18 gave the film a 4-star rating and said, “Phenomenally entertaining and consistently engaging, Fighter, for all the derivative genre components it compiles, is an action entertainer that crackles with energy.”
