Over a year ago, in January actress Sonam Kapoor and sister Rhea announced their film Veere Di Wedding, with the actress and Kareena Kapoor playing key roles. The film, was expected to kick off mid 2016. However, the dates had to be pushed as soon as the news of Kareena’s pregnancy was confirmed.
The film will now go on the floors in May.
In the meantime, another project which has an almost similar name Veerey Ki Wedding has completed 80 per cent of its shoot. The film features Jimmy Sheirgill in a key role.
If recent reports are to go by, the title of Jimmy's film has left the Kapoors miffed. For, the Kapoor reportedly claimed to have registered their title first.
Veerey Ki Wedding director Ashu Trikha in recent interview said they had registered the title with Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association and also acquired copyright and trademark for it. "The association suggests that a trademark supersedes any other registration. Legally, we have supported out title with everything," he was quoted as saying.
Fifty percent of his film has already been shot and by next week it will complete 80 per cent.
While a senior member of IMPAA has stated that Anil will have to opt for a new title, the actor’s spokesperson maintains that they had registered the title in 2015 and won’t change it.
