Vidya Balan is set to reprise her iconic role of Manjulika in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. The popular character holds a significant place in Vidya’s heart. Previously, in a discussion with Mid-Day, the actress reflected on her decision to return to the franchise. She said, “Bhool Bhulaiyaa gave me so much. So, I felt, ‘Should I do another one in the franchise?’ The worry that the sequel won’t match up to the original always plays on an actor’s mind. But I have grown up. This is a completely different film, and there is so much to enjoy in it. I wanted to work with Anees Bhai. I love the script, and because I was a part of the original, this is a whole different high.”
When asked about her role in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Vidya Balan noted, “With Manjulika, I am not trying to recreate what I had done before. It is a different time and a different me. The role may be the same, but it has changed [in its own way]. My approach is fresh.”
Apart from Vidya Balan, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 also stars Kartik Aaryan, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Triptii Dimri. The horror comedy, directed by Anees Bazmi, is scheduled to be released in the theatres on Diwali 2024.
Vidya Balan’s last project was Do Aur Do Pyaar, directed by Shirsha Guha Thakurta. Jointly backed by Applause Entertainment and Ellipsis Entertainment, the film also starred Pratik Gandhi, Ileana D’Cruz and Sendhil Ramamurthy in the lead roles.
