South Korean boyband BTS has the utmost respect and adoration for their fans aka the BTS Army. Similar to how BTS fans go gaga over any small update about the septet, the music sensations also make sure that they never let their admirers down. On Wednesday, December 20, the group’s agency BigHit Music once again took the Army for a sweet surprise, announcing the release of Jimin’s solo digital single, titled Closer Than This. The song is all the more special because it perfectly encapsulates Jimin’s honest feelings for his fans.
The Closer Than This music video opens with a textual layout that reads, “So in a way, this really is a fan song". Jimin can be seen seated with a writing team, discussing the lyrics of the track, asserting that he was “not parting ways forever". It might be an indication that Jimin was talking about his other group members namely Jungkook, Jin, J-hope, RM, SUGA, and V who are all currently conducting their mandatory 18-month military responsibilities. Jimin adds that the song should be made in a way that can aptly capture his unwavering love for his fans.
The music video is an amalgamation of some special moments of the BTS members, spanning years. From their debut on-stage performance to their recent live ones accompanied by their pleasant interactions with the BTS Army — Closer Than This captures all the emotions. There were also glimpses of euphoric celebrations and a sneak peek into some intimate moments shared between the septet.
