Spider-Man: Homecoming marked Tom Holland’s solo debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the friendly neighbourhood superhero, following his introduction in 2016’s Captain America: Civil War. The film also introduced Zendaya as MJ to the MCU, setting the stage for their collaboration in later Spider-Man movies, including Far From Home and No Way Home, with another instalment in the works. Recently, at the 29th Annual Critics Choice Awards, Tom graced the red carpet and shared insights about his thoughts when he rewatches his movies. While the actor considers himself his own best critic, he surprised everyone by revealing that he and Zendaya often revisit the first Spider-Man movie and reminisce about their early experiences as young actors.
He told Extra TV, “I definitely watch my stuff. I sometimes think I’m my best critic. I’ll see something and go ‘damn, I really could have pushed more there,’ but really once something has come out I kind of leave it to bed. Zendaya and I, every now and then watch Spider Man 1 and reminisce about being 19 and making those movies again. I love those movies and I love savouring those moments so I try not to watch them as often as I would because it is so special and it’s such a luxury like such a gift to be able to sit down and sort of relive your youth and watch those movies.”
As of now, an official announcement for Spider-Man 4 is pending, but reports suggest that Tom Holland will return for another adventure as the iconic superhero. The end Spider-Man: No Way Home has left the character’s future wide open, leaving makers to explore more about the character. While the director for the project is yet to be announced, reports indicate that Sony and Marvel Studios are actively developing the story for the next instalment.
Earlier, Tom Holland had claimed that discussions are going on regarding the fourth spider man movie. He feels protective for the iconic superhero and highlighted the importance of doing justice to the character and preserving its legacy. Holland further shared that he feels fortunate to have been part of a franchise that improved with each movie and any continuation would need to be meaningful and worth it for the character rather than simply for the sake of another film.
As fans eagerly wait for Tom Holland’s return as Spider-Man, Marvel is gearing up to satisfy their appetite with a spin-off film titled Madame Web scheduled for release in February. The movie features Dakota Johnson in the titular role, accompanied by a star studded cast including Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced and Tahar Rahim. Additionally, the excitement is also building for Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Venom 3.
