The two intruders who breached Lok Sabha’s security on Wednesday, as well as those who protested outside the premises, have been booked under serious terror charges, CNN-News18 has learnt.
As per the FIR filed by the special cell of the Delhi Police, the accused have been booked under sections 120 B, 452, and the stringent UAPA law for committing a terror act and hatching a conspiracy.
According to the Delhi Police, so far, there is no evidence of any foreign handler or funding. The online activities of the accused were also tracked on Wednesday night, and sources said some headway was expected on Thursday.
The incident, which occurred on the anniversary of the 2001 Parliament attack, spread panic in Lok Sabha as two visitors jumped into the chamber from the visitors’ gallery and opened canisters that emitted coloured smoke before being overpowered by MPs. Around the same time, a man and a woman also sprayed coloured gas from canisters while raising slogans such as ‘Tanashahi Nahi Chalegi’ outside the Parliament premises.
As per the latest inputs, the number of accused stands at seven, of whom six have been arrested.
Who is Accused Sagar Sharma?
Sagar Sharma, one of the two men who jumped into the Lower House from the gallery, is an e-rickshaw driver in Lucknow with meagre means.
Top Intelligence sources told CNN-News18 that probe teams have reached his house in Alam Bagh where they learnt that he was upset with his financial condition and influenced by revolutionary ideas. Last month, Sharma visited Delhi and he was associated with the Bhagat Singh Fan Club.
As of now, agencies have ruled out any association with terror groups, though an investigation has been launched to find out who runs the fan page and their antecedents.
What Has Neelam’s Interrogation Revealed?
Family members of Neelam, one of the two people arrested for protesting outside Parliament on Wednesday, said she had earlier participated in several agitations, including the farmers’ movement.
Neelam, who is around 36 years old, was staying in a PG accommodation in Hisar for the last five months, where she was preparing for competitive examinations.
She has opened a library in her village for poor kids and also gave them tuitions. In 2005, some Left-wing activists were arrested and it was revealed that she was in touch with them apart from being in contact with local farmer leaders who are now demanding her release.
Agencies are also probing how she came in touch with Maharashtra and Karnataka activists.
As per Neelam’s brother, she had cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) and visited her village two days ago, but did not talk about her plan to protest in Delhi.
He said she had done her MA and MPhil, but was upset over not getting a job. “Her certificate of Haryana Teachers Eligibility Test had expired. I asked her to go to Hisar and get coaching for the same,” said Niwas.
